Service Learning - Creating a Better World through Diversity and Inclusion
  • Unit: 3
  • Term 2
  • Introduction
    Partner Organization: CityLab
You see Hong Kong as a multicultural hub, but beneath its vibrant surface, many voices are silenced and talents overlooked, simply because of labels. This is your call to move beyond being a spectator.
This course goes beyond textbook theories of discrimination and inequality. It is an immersive journey where you will:
    • First-hand Experience: Step directly into the classroom. Observe and feel the everyday challenges faced by students with special educational needs, moving from sympathy to genuine understanding.
    • Engage in Candid Dialogues: Hear real stories from frontline social workers and academics. Together, we will deconstruct the “invisible walls” of systemic and cultural bias that perpetuate inequality.
    • Drive Tangible Changes: This is where your ideas come to life. Enter a local school as an “Inclusion Designer” and put your creativity into practice by planning and leading a multicultural activity for children.
Students will understand, participate in and lead real-world DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) initiatives.
