College General Education

All New Asia students are required to take 6 units of College GE courses:

  • 4 credits: compulsory courses (for Year One students)
  • 2 credits: elective courses (for Year Two or above)

Service Learning - Make a Difference to Our Community

  • Introduction
    Partner Organization: CarbonCare InnoLab
    This course aims to help students understand and explore various dimensions of climate change. A key focus will be on how to implement inclusive climate action to safeguard the well-being of communities and vulnerable groups, thereby achieving climate justice. Students will provide services in different areas, such as promoting climate and renewable energy education, and alleviating the heat conditions for residents of subdivided flats. Services may involve conducting interviews, organizing activities, or producing information packs, etc.

    Partner Organization: Fresh Wave
    The course covers both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills about organizing community film screenings. Students are expected to organize a community screening, through which tactical curation and practical coordination will be implemented subject to the target communities’ needs.

Service Learning - Creating a Better World through Diversity and Inclusion

  • Introduction
    Partner Organization: Jockey Club Cheung Sha Wan Children and Youth Integrated Services Centre, The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong
    The course aims to support underprivileged children with special learning needs (SENs). Students will explore the caregiving challenges faced by parents and the unique learning needs of these children, hoping to enhance the children’s learning interests and help them overcome learning difficulties.

Second-year entrants are required to take GENA1114, GENA1115, GENA1116 or GENA1117 (3 units) during their first year of attendance.#

#Non-local students may complete ELTU2008 as a substitute.

Service-Learning

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) introduces a new credit-bearing service-learning programme to extend students’ learning outside the classroom and to serve the local community. New Asia College will launch this programme in 2025/26 academic year as compulsory course of College General Education. Read more
