1. New Asia College General Education Service -learning Pilot Courses (Summer Session, 2024-25)

 

The College will offer 2 service-learning pilot courses in the summer session of 2024/25, under the College General Education Programme. Each course takes up 3 units and will be conducted in Cantonese. Details are here. Upon conducting service, students are expected to share and reflect on their service experience, and to further integrate service and learning experience. It seeks to cultivate students’ leadership skills and foster their self-awareness and empathy towards others and the community. In addition, the course also emphasizes reflection on the quality of service-leadership with particular focus on intrapersonal and interpersonal competencies. These courses will be regarded as College General Education elective courses.

2. New Asia Young Scholars Scheme 2025/26

 

The New Asia Young Scholars Scheme, which was established in 2013, aims at deepening students’ understanding of College history and spirit, empower them to become responsible individuals towards society as well as equip them with qualities that contemporary intellectuals and leaders should possess. Up to 10 students will be selected and will participate in a series of activities, such as historical trips in Hong Kong/outside Hong Kong, training on communication skills, Chinese culture workshops and various College activities (e.g. serving as the emcee for College functions and events, or attending meetings of the College). Students who have fulfilled the Scheme requirements will be named as “New Asia Young Scholars”, as well as receive a certificate and scholarship from the College.

3. Taiwan Summer Service-learning and Exchange Programme

 

This programme is organized by the University of Taipei and co-organized by New Asia College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It aims to promote cross-cultural exchange and understanding among students, and to provide an in-depth understanding of topics such as Taiwan’s society, culture, and indigenous peoples. Students will also have the opportunity to engage in service learning with local students and participate in various cultural tours and student exchange activities to broaden their horizons.
