The Yen Kwo Yung Lecture in Life Sciences is co-organized by New Asia College and School of Life Sciences. This year, we are honored to have invited Professor SUNG Jao Yiu Joseph, Senior Vice President (Health & Life Sciences) and Dean, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Distinguished University Professor, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore to deliver the lectures in March.

2. New Asia College Cultural Talks 2024-2025 Third Talk

“New Asia College Cultural Talks” is jointly organized by New Asia College and the New Asia College Alumni Association, co-organized by New Asia Middle School. There are two to three talks in each academic year. The third talk will be held on 15 March 2025. It is our honor to invite Prof. CHEUNG Chin Hung Sidney, Professor, Department of Anthropology, Chinese University of Hong Kong, as our speaker.

3. Bring Your Spirit to a Place of Tranquillity: Cultural Tour and Forest Therapy at Tsz Shan Monastery

Located in Tai Po, Tsz Shan Monastery is home to the world’s second tallest Guan Yin statue at 76 meters. This Chinese Buddhist monastery is dedicated to preserving the teachings of the Dharma as preached by Śākyamuni Buddha, providing a serene environment to purify the heart.

 

The Committee on Student Counselling and Development of the College will organise a Cultural Tour and Forest Therapy at Tsz Shan Monastery. The event consists of two sessions:

 

  1. Guided Tour (1.5 hours):

Participants will gain insights into its rich history and culture at Tsz Shan Monastery.

  1. Forest Therapy (1.5 hours):

Blending Buddhist teachings with Western forest therapy, this experience encourages participants to slow down, engage with nature, awaken their senses, and perceive the world from a different perspective.

4. New Asia College / Ewha Womans University – Global Student Partnership 2025

Co-organized by New Asia College and Ewha Womans University, this programme aims to nurture global leaders through mutual exchange and deep understanding of the society and culture of the two regions. Eight students from each university are selected to pay one-week visit to partner country during July or August and attend academic and cultural exchange programmes. Selected students are also responsible for planning and organizing the programme in Hong Kong, including the arrangement of diverse academic activities along with cultural and social activities under a mutually agreed theme. Upon the completion of the programme, students would be awarded with a certificate of participation. Please find more details on the college website.

5. New Asia College / Hunan University / Soochow University Summer Exchange Programme 2025

This programme aims to foster cultural exchange between students from Hong Kong and mainland China. Students from Hunan University and C. W. Chu College of Soochow University will visit New Asia College in early July, accompanied by NA students who will also participate in the field trips in Hong Kong. During their stay, all participants will engage in a range of activities, including visits to various CUHK units, government offices, and social service organizations, as well as other cultural and social events. In a reciprocal gesture, New Asia students will visit Hunan University in Changsha in mid-July, where they will volunteer to teach in a remote town or village. They will then travel to Suzhou to visit Soochow University. While in Suzhou, students will delve into the region’s cultural and historical heritage and also visit Mr. Ch’ien Mu’s tombstone. Upon completion of the programme, students will receive a certificate of participation. Please find more details on the college website.
