 2. Get-together Noodle Luncheon 2025/26 (First Term)

To better understand our students’ experience in adapting to university life and to promote more interaction between staff and students, the “Get-together Luncheon” will be launched from October to November with the following details:

Venue: Yun Chi Hsien
Time: 12:30pm – 2:00pm
Target size: A group of 6 – 10 people, including 2 staff and 4 – 8 students

(English/Cantonese/Putonghua sessions will be available for selection)

Target staff: All teaching staff affiliated to NA
Target students: All NA Students (priority will be given to freshmen)

 3. Mental Health First Aid Standard Course (Subsidy Scheme)

Mental Health First Aid Standard Course (Subsidy Scheme) is now open for applications. The aim of the scheme is to encourage New Aisa College students and hostel tutors to participate in the Mental Health First Aid Standard Course offered by outside organizations, allowing them to learn relevant knowledge and skills, and to enhance their understanding and response capabilities regarding mental health.

 

Applications for the scheme are accepted year-round. Successful applicants can receive full funding for the course fee (HKD 800). 40 quotas are available on first-come-first-served basis.

 4. Introduction to Tai Chi

We are pleased to invite you to join the “Introduction to Tai Chi” course, proudly organized by the Committee on College Culture of New Asia College and co-organized by the New Asia Kung Fu Society, with sponsorship from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation. This course will be taught by Miss Pearly Au-Yeung, a New Asia College student and current member of the Hong Kong Wushu Team. It aims to help participants understand the basic principles and health concepts of Tai Chi Chuan, enhance physical and mental well-being through practice, and promote friendly community interaction. Details are as follows:

 

Course Instructor: Miss Pearly Au-Yeung (Current member of the Hong Kong Wushu Team)

Date: 14 October to 2 December 2025 (Every Tuesday, 8 sessions in total)

Time: 19:00 – 20:30

Venue: Dance Room, G/F, Leung Hung Kee Building, New Asia College

Participants: CUHK undergraduates and staff members (priority for NA students and staff)

Language: Chinese and English (Commands and movement names will be given primarily in Chinese, with English explanations. The instructor will ensure all participants understand the details.)

 

Course Objectives:

  • Understand the basic principles and health concepts of Tai Chi Chuan.
  • Learn and master basic Tai Chi techniques and footwork.
  • Promote physical and mental relaxation, and improve body coordination and balance through practice.
  • Provide a relaxed and friendly opportunity for community interaction.

 5. New Asia Lectures on Confucianism 2025

“New Asia Lectures on Confucianism” is generously sponsored by the Moonchu Foundation. The 11th New Asia Lectures on Confucianism will be held in October 2025, and it is our honor to have invited Professor Paul R. Goldin to be our speaker. Professor Goldin is the Professor and Chair, Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, University of Pennsylvania. Details of the lectures are as follows:

Topic: The Early Textual Basis of the Confucian Doctrine of the “Uncrowned King” (suwang 素王)
