The College has recently received a generous donation of 15 million dollars from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation (the Foundation) to support the launch of the “Replant Spiritual Roots, Nourish Our Talents” programme promoting Chinese culture, establish new scholarships and bursaries, and construct its new hostel.

In appreciation of the donation, a cheque presentation ceremony was held on 30 September. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Rocky S. Tuan, CUHK Vice-Chancellor and President; Mr. Tin Hing-sin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation; Mr. Tai Hay-lap, Vice Chairman of the Board; Mr. Tin Wing-sin, Prof. Kenneth Young and Dr. Yuen Pong-yiu, Directors of the Foundation; Mr. Bryan L. Tin, Member of the Advisory Board; Mr. David Day, Chief Executive of the Foundation; Mr. Leung Ying-wai Charles, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees; Prof. Hector Sun-On Chan, College Head, and others.

The new “Replant Spiritual Roots, Nourish our Talents” programme aims to promote Chinese virtues through a variety of activities, including Chinese cultural activities at CUHK and summer camps for local junior secondary school students, and training classes for educational workers in Mainland China. The College hopes the programme will “replant spiritual roots” in their hearts and cultivate the fine values of Chinese culture. In addition, it will establish new scholarships and bursaries to help financially challenged students, and to reward students whose performance is outstanding not only academically, but also in extra-curricular activities and social services.

In celebration of its 40th anniversary and its long devotion in contributing to our society and our country, the Foundation has made a donation to the College, representing an even closer partnership among the Foundation, CUHK and the College.
