[August 2023 issue]

The College organised a trip for participants of the 9th and 10th New Asia Young Scholars Scheme, as well as a College Students’ Union representative, to visit Suzhou for cultural exploration and exchanges, between 14 and 17 May 2023. It enabled participants to gain a better understanding of the life of Mr. Ch’ien Mu and fostered culture exchanges, in a bid to learn more about Chinese culture and history and to cultivate a sense of national identity.

The delegation was led by College Head Professor Sun-On Chan, Associate College Head Professor Lee Ho-man Jimmy and Dean of Students Professor Cheung Kam-siu Kenneth. Through visiting the Humble Administrator’s Garden, a number of old streets, Suzhou Museum and Suzhou New Development Zone, participants could experience the cultural atmosphere, widen their horizons and enhance their cultural literacy.

Highlight of the trip was visiting the tomb of Mr. Ch’ien and the residence of Mrs. Ch’ien. The College hoped that students could know more about Mr. Ch’ien and the College history, so as to gain insights about the motto “Cheng Ming” and to lead a life with sincerity and intelligence.
