Three Alumni Appointed as Principal Officials of Sixth-term HKSAR Government

The Central People's Government approved the appointments of Principal Officials of the Sixth-term of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government earlier and three College alumni were on the list. Mr. Chan Mo-po Paul (77/Accountancy) and Mr. Tsang Kwok-wai Erick (86/Journalism and Communication) were reappointed as Financial Secretary, and Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs respectively, while Ms. Mak Mei-kuen Alice (93/English) were appointed as Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs.

Mr. Chan has been Financial Secretary since 2017. He had over 30 years' experience in the accounting sector and had worked in the Inland Revenue Department, the former Construction Industry Training Authority, a listed company and accountancy firms. Mr. Chan became an elected member of the Legislative Council representing the Accountancy Constituency in 2008. He was Secretary for Development from 2012 to 2017.

Mr. Tsang has been Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs since 2020. Mr. Tsang joined the Immigration Department as an Assistant Immigration Officer in 1987. He became Assistant Director of Immigration in 2012 and Deputy Director of Immigration in 2014. He was appointed as Director of Immigration in 2016.

Ms. Mak has been serving the community for many years. A former member serving in six terms of the Kwai Tsing District Council, she is well-acquainted with district affairs. She has been a Legislative Council member since 2012, and is currently the Vice President of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions, Member of the Council of CUHK and Chairman of Hong Kong Ladies Dynamic Association.
