New Activities of Mentorship Programme – Enhancing Students’ Workplace Skills and Understanding of Mainland Culture

Summer Internship Pre-orientation Workshop

Mainland Technology and Cultural Exploration Field Trip

[November 2023 issue]

In the previous session of the Mentorship Programme, two new activities were introduced. The first one was the “Summer Internship Pre-orientation Workshop” which aimed at providing pre-employment training for participants of our Summer Internship Programme. The second one was the “Mainland Technology and Cultural Exploration Field Trip” designed to enable students and mentors to gain insights into developments in mainland China.

The “Summer Internship Pre-orientation Workshop” took place on 10 June at the Hui Kwok Hall of Mei Yun Tang. In collaboration with the College’s Summer Internship Programme, the workshop provided half-day training for eight students who were about to embark on their summer internships. The workshop was led by Mr. Wong Hoi-ching Jonathan (97/Economics), a professional trainer. Through experiential learning, students gained an understanding of the importance of teamwork and their roles during internships.

The “Mainland Technology and Cultural Exploration Field Trip” was held on 27 August . The tour covered three places, including the Dafen Oil Painting Village, the Ebo Cultural Museum of Clocks and Watches, and Shenzhen Comen Medical Equipment Co., Ltd. During the journey, students, mentors and alumni deepened their understanding of mainland culture and technological advancements.

The addition of these new activities to the Mentorship Programme, which enhanced students’ workplace skills and understanding of mainland culture, would not have been possible without the help of various alumni. The College extends its gratitude to them. With the successful pilot runs of these initiatives, similar activities will continue in the current academic year’s Mentorship Programme.
