The College embarked on the New Asia Young Scholars Scheme 2023/24 in September 2023, with its Inauguration Dinner successfully held on 19 October 2023. Since COVID-19 has subsided, past Young Scholars also joined the Dinner which has added colours to the event.

The New Asia Young Scholars Scheme aims at deepening students’ understanding of College history and spirit, empowering them to become responsible individuals towards society as well as equipping them with qualities that contemporary intellectuals and leaders should possess. The Scheme is generously sponsored by Mr. Lam Chi-chiu Roland and College trustee Ms. Wong Oi-yee Michell.

This year, the Dinner was well-received by guests, including Mr. Lam Chi-chiu Roland, Ms. Wong Oi-yee Michell, Chairperson of the College Alumni Association Ms. Wong Chui-hung Anny, and voluntary mentors Mr. Wong Ho-chiu, Professor Ho Man-wui Richard, Professor Fan Sin-piu, Professor Ting Sun-pao Joseph, Ms. Cheung Wang-yim Lavender and Ms. Lee Ship who were invited to attend the Dinner to share the joy and happiness.

The Inauguration Dinner marked the completion of the one-year training of the 10th batch of New Asia Young Scholars, and the commencement of training of the 11th batch. In the coming year, the nine new Scholars will have the opportunity to participate in an array of academic and cultural activities, including College meetings, talks and alumni activities, to communicate and learn from teachers, alumni and trustees of the College. We wish the New Asia Young Scholars a fruitful and prosperous year ahead, during which they will strive to promote Chinese culture and become role models of “New Asians”.
