To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of New Asia College, the College and the New Asia Alumni Golf Club co-organised the “New Asia College 75th Anniversary Golf Day” on 10 December 2024 at the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course, attracting over 50 alumni and their families.
In the morning, participants arrived and were divided into groups for the competition. The atmosphere was lively on both the South and North Courses, allowing participants to enjoy golf, reunite with old friends, and make new ones. Throughout the competition, participants showcased their skills and encouraged each other, as well as strengthened connections.
After the competition, everyone moved to a nearby restaurant for a buffet dinner. During the dinner, College Head Professor Sun-On Chan delivered a speech, expressing his gratitude for the alumni’s participation and support. He highlighted the overwhelming response to the event, with registration filling up in just a few days. Professor Chan also announced that the event raised over HK$420,000 for the newly established “New Asia College 75th Anniversary Scholarship”. Along with other fundraising efforts, donations have exceeded HK$600,000 which sufficed for two perpetual scholarship awards.
Chairperson of New Asia College Alumni Golf Association, Mr. Poon Yan-cham Eric, also expressed his joy at the successful event and thanked the organising team for their hard work. He emphasised that the event was not only a golf competition but also an important opportunity to support our alma mater. The Association has long supported the College through donations and participation in golf events organised by the university. The Association has also established its own exchange scholarship to award students, and these efforts are highly commendable.
During the dinner, the College presented certificates of appreciation to the sponsors, including two Diamond sponsors, one Gold sponsor, two Silver sponsors, and seven Bronze sponsors. Additionally, the event featured multiple awards, including the top three prizes for the South and North Courses respectively, as well as four “Nearest to the Pin” awards for each course. Finally, a lucky draw offering 22 prizes was held, concluding the day on a high note.
The success of this event was due to the joint efforts of the New Asia College Alumni Golf Association and the College. The alumni not only strengthened their friendships but also contributed to the development of their alma mater. The College looks forward to similar events in the future, fostering connections and support among the alumni community.
