Over 40 alumni and their relatives gathered together, forming a lively scene

The Golden Jubilee Reunion of Class 1974 was successfully held on 7 December, 2024, with over 40 alumni and their families attending the event. The day began with a tour of CUHK and New Asia College campuses.

At 3pm, more than 20 alumni took a tour bus for the CUHK campus tour. The tour started with student guides introducing the new developments on campus. For many 1974 alumni, unless they frequently visited the Shatin campus after graduation, the buildings were quite unfamiliar due to 50 years of development. Everyone marvelled at the beauty of the campus scenery. The alumni also visited the newly completed fifth student hostel, Mei Yun Tang.

In the evening, over 40 alumni and their families arrived at Yun Chi Hsien. Everyone was excited and immediately began sharing anecdotes from their old days. The event started with singing the College Anthem, followed by speeches of College Head Professor Sun-On Chan and College Alumni Association Treasurer Mr. Wan Shiu-kee. To commemorate the golden jubilee of the 1974 alumni’s graduation, the College presented a cake, and everyone joined in the cake-cutting ceremony.

The alumni reminisced about their past experiences while looking at old photos collected by the College. Mr. Leung Wing-mo, the alumni co-ordinator for the Physics Major, hosted the sharing session, inviting alumni to share memorable stories from their time at the College.

The reunion concluded with laughter and joy. The alumni also contributed an additional HK$30,000 to the “1974 Alumni Scholarship” established a decade ago. The success of this event and the additional proceeds were made possible by the dedicated efforts of the class co-ordinators, for which the College is deeply grateful. We hope that the 1974 alumni will continue to support College activities and care about the development of their alma mater.
