The College celebrated its 75th Anniversary with a grand Gala Dinner on 15 December evening at Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel, welcoming nearly 600 guests including CUHK students, staff, alumni, partners and friends to commemorate this significant milestone.
Guest of Honour, Mr. Chan Mo-po Paul (GBM, GBS, MH, JP), Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government and esteemed College alumnus, delivered a heartfelt address and shared his cherished memories at the College, while extending his congratulations on its remarkable achievements. Mr. Leung Ying-wai Charles, Chairperson of the College Board of Trustees, and Professor Sun-On Chan, Head of the College, also delivered welcoming remarks highlighting the College’s journey and outlining its ambitious vision for the future.
Various performances were also arranged at the Dinner, including melodious singing by professional opera singers from the Hong Kong Grand Opera and an excellent performance by the NA73 Band, adding splendour to the happy occasion. To commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Partnership between the College and the Yale-China Association, a special session was added to the banquet, where College Head Professor Hector Chan and Chair of Yale-China Board of Trustees Mr. Laurence Bates delivered speeches and participated in a simple yet solemn ceremony of exchanging gifts. The banquet also featured an auction section, with all proceeds supporting College development.
Towards the end, the College arranged for different groups of guests to take group photos on stage, leaving precious and beautiful memories. Over the past 70 years, thanks to the strong support of alumni from different graduation years, staff members and friends, the College has been moving forward with significant achievements. We look forward to many more 70 years of the College, striving to nurture students who will contribute to society.
