A College Colloquium 2023/24 was held on 12 October this year. It was our honour to have invited Dr. Kwok Pak-nin Samson, Senior Lecturer of the CUHK Department of Philosophy, to share his views on the topic “The moral controversy of meat-eating” from a philosophical perspective. The Colloquium was hosted by Professor Kenneth Cheung, College Dean of Students, and Professor of the CUHK Department of Chinese Language and Literature.

During the Colloquium, Dr. Kwok briefly introduced the concepts of vegetarianism and veganism, and shared some standpoints for and against meat-eating with the demonstration of several video examples, inspiring participants to think critically on this contemporary topic in an interactive way. After the talk, participants grasped the opportunity to exchange their thoughts with Dr. Kwok during the Q&A session as well as the tea reception session which followed. To echo the topic, vegetarian snacks were served at the tea reception.
