With the conclusion of the “Thanksgiving Party” held in mid-May, the NAvigation Buddy Programme 2024/25 (Buddy Programme), jointly organised by New Asia College and New Asia Middle School, has also come to an end.
The Buddy Programme aims to establish long-term relationships between students of the two schools, while our College students can apply their knowledge and experiences to help the Middle School students cope with difficulties in their studies and develop their interests.
Over the past academic year, eight selected College students not only provided ongoing group tutoring to 16 students from New Asia Middle School, but also organised a series of diverse activities for them. These included two sessions of “CUHK Experiential Day” themed around Biomedical Sciences and Economics, which enabled secondary students to gain a deeper understanding of these university disciplines and campus life. In addition, the students participated in a cultural guided tour of Tai O and have their understanding of the local community enhanced. They also took part in a mindfulness workshop and a coffee latte art workshop, which raised awareness and practical understanding of mental health.
From the stories shared by students during the Thanksgiving Party, it is evident that the connections between the students have deepened. The students have made significant progress in their personal growth and learning, and it is believed that the goals of the programme have been successfully achieved.
