Researchers from CUHK have won 17 awards at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2022, including four Gold Medals, ten Silver Medals and three Bronze Medals. College members Prof. Lui Po Yee (Left) from the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology and Prof. Wang Chi Chiu (Right) from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology earned three Silver Medals at the event.

Prof. Lui gained a Silver Medal for the project “Bioactive Decellularized Stem Cell Sheet for Tissue Repair”. The bioactive decellularized stem cell sheet can be used for the promotion of tissue repair and as a scaffolding material for the synthesis of bio-artificial tissues.

Prof. Wang was awarded two Silver Medals for the projects “Pro-EGCG for Treatment of Endometriosis” and “EndoTest for Prediction of Implantation and Pregnancy Outcomes”. Pro-EGCG is a novel molecule derived from green tea as a prodrug of EGCG for endometriosis treatment; and the EndoTest is an innovative and comprehensive test of immune cell profile in the endometrium before natural or artificial conception to predict successful implantation, and improve pregnancy rate and outcomes.
