NA-affiliated Prof. Lam Hon-ming, Professor of School of Life Sciences and Director of State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology (CUHK), has recently been awarded the appointment as Choh-Ming Li Professor of Life Sciences. Our heartfelt congratulations!
Prof. Lam graduated from the Department of Biology, CUHK in 1985, and studied in U.S. after he gained his CUHK Master’s Degree in 1987. He received his Doctoral Degree in 1992 and started his teaching career in CUHK in 1997. Prof. Lam started his soybean research from 1998, and unlocked the gene orders of various wild and cultivated soybeans in 2010 with his research members. Four years later, he successfully cultivated new breeds of resistant soybeans by cooperating with Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Prof. Lam’s research findings and teaching achievements are widely recognized. He was awarded the Ministry of Education Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards in 2016 and were awarded the Exemplary Teaching Award from Faculty of Science, CUHK twice.
Prof. Lam has served the College for a very long time and is serving in various College committees. He has been serving as the Warden of Daisy Li Hall since its completion in 2002.
