[February 2025 issue]
The Career Development Day of the New Asia College Mentorship Programme 2024/25 was successfully held on 11 January 2025. In addition to programme mentees, all students from New Asia College were specially invited to attend. Thanks to the enthusiastic support of the mentees and students, it was well-received by 80 attendees. This year’s Career Development Day included two workshops: Personality Insights and Communication Skills and Workplace Personal Image Building and Business Etiquette. Additionally, we introduced mock interview sessions featuring alumni Ms. Chan Yuen-bing Pinky (92/IBBA), Mr. Lee Kim-hay (80/Journalism and Communication) and Mr. Yu Chung-kai (05/Physical Education and Sports Science) as interviewers. These sessions provided students with a realistic and valuable interview experience, offering a precious opportunity to prepare for their future careers. In terms of the sharing sessions, we were honoured to engage alumni from various industries to share their experiences. Recognising the growing importance of mental well-being development in recent years, we included sessions on “Enhancing Resilience” and “Mindful Leadership”. The speakers of these sessions included alumni Mr. Ngan Wai-hang, Dr. Siu Yat-fan (11/Psychology) and Ms. Tsang Lai-wa Claudia (12/Fine Arts). They shared insights into different industries, job realities and pre-career preparations, covering areas such as banking, mental health, attitudes and skills in interviews, mindfulness, and corporate communications. The students responded enthusiastically to these sharing sessions and actively engaged in interactions with the speakers. In the evening, a Lunar New Year Pun Choi Party was held at Yun Chi Hsien, bringing the mentors and mentees together to exchange greetings and celebrate the Chinese New Year. Before the dinner, Associate Head Dr. Leung Fung-lin Elean and Chairperson of the College Alumni Association Ms. Wong Chui-hung Anny both delivered speeches, warmly welcoming the mentors and mentees. They expressed gratitude for the staunch support from the mentors towards the mentorship programme, and encouraged the mentees to learn from the mentors. The atmosphere at the dinner was joyful, and the mentors and mentees engaged in lively conversations, exploring an array of topics. We hope this essence of the New Asia spirit will endure for generations to come. The success of this event was made possible with the tremendous support from all parties involved. We sincerely thank all the speakers, mentors and mentees, and New Asia students for their active participation and support. |
