[February 2025 issue]

The 40th Anniversary Reunion for Class 1984 took place on 30 November 2024 (Saturday), with more than 70 alumni and their families attending the event. They chatted with old classmates and teachers about recent developments, and reminisced about the interesting anecdotes from their campus days.

In the afternoon, nearly 20 alumni arrived for a campus tour. Everyone first took a tour bus to tour CUHK, during which student helpers introduced the new developments. The current campus, for some alumni who have not returned to their alma mater for a long time, has changed significantly, with many new buildings and facilities along with the new colleges. After getting off the bus, they revisited Chih Hsing Hall and the fifth student dormitory Mei Yun Tang completed the year before. This dormitory is very spacious and completely different from the old dormitories. The alumni all find the current students very fortunate.

In the evening, more than 70 alumni and their families arrived at Yun Chi Hsien to attend the dinner. The alumni were thrilled to meet again after a long time. This reunion was fortunate to have invited Professor Chan Tze-lock of the Department of Chemistry to attend, and the friendship between teachers and students is invaluable. The event kicked off with singing the College Anthem, with the Dean Professor Sun-On Chan delivering a welcome speech. Vice President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Mo Kwan-leung Kenny, and council member Mr. Leung Kwan-yu David also attended to support, and took the opportunity to introduce the activities and work of the Association. At the dinner, the alumni not only reviewed the old photos of the year but also enthusiastically shared anecdotes, including the fun of living in a dormitory, as if they have returned to 40 years ago. The reunion ended in laughter.

The success of this event really relied on the strong support of the contacts of each graduating class which the College is truly grateful for. It is hoped that the 1984 alumni can continue to support College activities and jointly promote its development.

Below is the list of alumni co-ordinators of Class 1984. If one would like to contact classmates, or serve as class co-ordinators, please contact College staff Mr. Kelvin Cheung (Tel.: 3943-9680; Email: kelvin@cuhk.edu.hk).
