The Yale-China Association held a two-week orientation programme at the New Asia Campus from 6 to 19 August this year to welcome 12 Yale-China fellows who are newly recruited, or returning to work in CUHK or other Mainland secondary schools. The Association arranged a series of activities for the fellows, including CUHK campus tour, Sai Kung boat rip, dinner gatherings, lectures by instructors, workshops, group discussions, and teaching practices. The Association was honoured to have Professor Tuan Sung-chi Rocky, CUHK Vice-Chancellor, to join us on 17 August for a luncheon at Yun Chi Hsien, with Yale-China fellows and staff members of the College. In his speech, Professor Tuan talked about the mission and beliefs of the Yale-China Association, including embracing differences, developing personal influence and promoting intercultural exchanges, and encouraged Yale-China fellows to act as a bridge for cultural communication in this ever-changing era. Finally, he shared that when he was studying in the United States, he was inspired by Dr. Francis S. Hutchins, the then Hong Kong representative of the Yale-China Association, and thus had a deep affection for the Association.
