In October 2023, the first “NAvigation Buddy Programme (NAvigation Programme)”, co-organised by New Asia College and New Asia Middle School, officially kicked off. The NAvigation Programme aims to establish long-term relationship between students of the two schools, while our College students can apply their knowledge and experience to help the Middle School students cope with difficulties in their studies and develop their interests.
In the past academic year, the ten selected College students not only provided group tutoring for 20 Middle School students constantly, but also organised a series of interesting and diversified activities for them. These included two “CUHK Experiential Days” with studies of Anthropology and Nursing as the main themes, helping the Middle School students gain a deeper understanding of these disciplines and university life. In addition, the Middle School students participated in cultural tours in Aberdeen Fishing Village and Kowloon Hospital, where they gained a deeper understanding of the local communities. Furthermore, students attended a film-sharing session which explored life attitudes through discussion and sharing, and conducted a volunteer service for protecting the environment, in which students’ horizons were broadened by interacting with people from diverse social backgrounds.
The “Thanksgiving Party” held in mid-May 2024 marked the end of the Programme for this academic year. At the party, College students and Middle School students expressed their blessings and gratitude to each other. We trust the first NAvigation Programme has successfully achieved the goals of the Programme. Students of both schools not only deepened their connections, but also made significant progress in their personal growth and learning.
