Review of Environmental Activities 2024/25


College staff and students started organic farming in October. They had a substantial harvest afterwards, including white radishes, tomatoes, eggplants, corn, and various herbs and vegetables


Visit to Tai Lung Experimental Station to learn about its facilities and its effort to study crop varieties that suit the local environment, thereby supporting local agriculture and enhancing productivity


College staff and students visited Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve to learn about butterfly ecology and conservation


The Committee on Environmental Protection of the College invited three guest speakers who are educators and practitioners in the field of nature conservation to share their experiences and initiatives in preserving natural environment and sustaining Hong Kong’s biodiversity


The Xuesi Hall Association organised a workshop to guide students in reusing discarded red packets to create their own handmade products. This helped students understand practical ways to implement environmental principles


Dr. David Lau, Curator of the Shiu-Ying Hu Herbarium led staff and students to experience the procedures of making scientific illustrations, including plant identification, dissection, microscopic inspection and drawing drafts
