Professor Lo Yuk Ming Dennis Chaired the 6th Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences

The sixth “Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences”, co-organized by the New Asia College and the School of Life Sciences, aims at enabling the general public and students to better understand life sciences and to appreciate their essence, while promoting the values and appreciation of life sciences in modern society. A total of three lectures were held from 26 March to 6 April 2022, delivered by Professor Lo Yuk Ming Dennis, SBS, JP, Associate Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK, Chairman of the Department of Chemical Pathology, CUHK and Li Ka Shing Professor of Medicine, CUHK.
 
The first lecture “My Journey from a Student to a Clinician-Scientist”, co-organized with the Hong Kong Science Museum, was held on 26 March. Prof. Lo shared his story on how he became a clinician-scientist from a student. The second lecture “Translating Scientific Discoveries into Clinical Impact” was held on 30 March. Prof. Lo talked about his research projects and various challenges he experienced during his research journey. The third lecture “Circulating DNA in Blood: Coming in All Sizes and Shapes” was held on 6 April. Prof. Lo shared his research on circulating DNA in blood and the findings.
 
The lectures were well received even though they were held online. Participants actively raised interesting questions via the online platform. The College would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Yen Kai-Ming for establishing the “Mr. Yen Kwo-Yung Memorial Fund” which continuously supported the organization of the lecture series.
