“The New Asia College 75^th Anniversary Lecture cum the 9th Yen Kwo Yung Lecture in Life Sciences”, co-organised by New Asia College and the CUHK School of Life Sciences, aims at enabling the general public and students to better understand life sciences and to appreciate their essence, while promoting the values and appreciation of life sciences in modern society. Two lectures were held on 28 and 29 March 2025 respectively, with Professor Sung Jao-yiu Joseph, Senior Vice President (Health and Life Sciences) and Dean of the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as the speaker.

 

The first lecture entitled “The Future of Medicine and Role of Doctors in the Era of Artificial Intelligence” was moderated by College Head Professor Sun-On Chan. The second lecture entitled “The Future of Medicine in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics”, co-organised with Hong Kong Science Museum, was moderated by Professor Chan Ho-yin, Director of the School of Life Science. In the two lectures, Professor Sung shared the application of Artificial Intelligence in medicine and his views about the future development in the field of medicine.

 

Besides tertiary students, the lectures attract over 200 members of the public and secondary students. The audience raised questions actively to learn about the latest medical development from Professor Sung. The College would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Yen Kai-ming for establishing the “Mr. Yen Kwo-Yung Memorial Fund” which has continuously supported the organisation of this lecture series.
