The second lecture of the 2023/24 New Asia College Cultural Talks, jointly organised by New Asia College and New Asia College Alumni Association, and co-organised with New Asia Middle School, was successfully held on February 3 at the school hall of New Asia Middle School.

During the lecture, through sharing and introducing science fiction films from the 1930s onwards, Professor Jimmy Lee analysed whether the science fiction scenarios in the movies have been realised in real life, thus demonstrating how science fiction films have inspired new ideas and driven technological advancements, as well as discussing the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its profound impact on human life. Professor Lee gave a clear explanation of the true definition of AI and shared valuable insights on its future development, which enhanced participants’ understanding and knowledge of AI, and made them reflect on human reliance on AI and its long-term applications.

Participants were welcome to attend the lecture in person or online via Zoom. The event received enthusiastic support from the public, alumni, students and New Asia Middle School students. They actively engaged in the informative lecture by asking questions and interacting with the speaker during the Q&A session.
