Prof. Xu Jianbin Awarded Appointment as Choh-Ming Li Professor of Electronic Engineering

NA-affiliated Prof. Xu Jianbin, Professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering and Assistant Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Engineering, has recently been awarded Choh-Ming Li Professor of Electronic Engineering.

Prof. Xu received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the Nanjing University in 1983 and 1986, respectively, in Physics and Information Physics. Since 1988, he has pursued further studies in Germany in Nanoscience and related technology. He gained a doctorate degree in 1993 and joined the Department of Electronic Engineering, CUHK. He has been Professor of the Department since 2002.

Prof. Xu's research focuses on solid-state electronics physics and related materials, as well as on physics of semiconductor optoelectronic devices. He has conducted a number of important researches in micro- and nano-scale characterization, nano-thermal conduction, MOS gate insulating layer, zinc oxide, physics of organic semiconductor device interface, graphene and two-dimensional electronic materials preparation and device physics, and new solar batteries.

The research findings and teaching achievements of Prof. Xu have been widely recognized. He was given the Ministry of Education Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award in 2014, and was named in the list of “Highly Cited Researchers 2020”.
