At the Year of the Snake started, the Lunar New Year Party co-organised by New Asia College and the New Asia College Alumni Association was held on 21 February 2025 at the Grand Ballroom of Hilton Garden Inn Hong Kong Mongkok. More than 150 alumni, friends of New Asia, and students gathered to celebrate the festive occasion. The event commenced with a series of exciting programmes amidst the festive greetings. In their speeches, Mr. Charles Leung, Chairperson of the College’s Board of Trustees, and Professor Sun-On Chan, College Head, reviewed the various events organised over the past year to celebrate the College’s 75th Anniversary. They also highlighted different projects planned for the holistic development of students, all of which received strong support of teachers, students and alumni. Some alumni even established scholarships in celebration of the College’s 75th Anniversary, for which the College is deeply grateful. Ms. Anny Wong, Chairperson of the Alumni Association, reviewed the Association’s work in the past year and thanked the Association’s Committee Members for their assistance in organising several alumni events for the 75th Anniversary. Following the toast ceremony, the banquet officially began. This year, the College and the Alumni Association invited the New Asia Chorus to perform at the Party. The Chorus selected two Chinese festive songs, “Full Moon and Blooming Flowers” and “Welcoming Flowers in Spring”. Additionally, the NA73 Band, which received high praise at the College’s 75th Anniversary banquet, performed a few classic hits. The performances created a festive atmosphere for the banquet. In addition to enjoying the performances, everyone actively participated in the lantern riddles before the banquet. Many guests successfully guessed the answers. This was followed by a lucky draw, and the lucky winners went home with great prizes. The College and the Alumni Association expressed their gratitude to the various individuals who offered sponsorships, which enriched the range of prizes at the Party. During the banquet, the College also held a simple yet solemn cheque presentation ceremony for a number of donors attending the dinner. The event was successfully held, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Alumni Association, College colleagues and students. The College would like to take this opportunity to express its deep gratitude, with special thanks to alumni David Leung and Whitney Lau, as well as New Asia Young Scholars Scheme participants Dickson Yu and Jane Lau, who served as the emcees and created an engaging atmosphere. This Lunar New Year Party marked the College’s welcoming of the Year of the Snake, and we look forward to the College’s continued efforts in nurturing students and contributing to society in the coming year. |
