On 25 February morning, our College head Professor Sun-On Chan and Dean of Students Professor Kenneth Cheung visited Xinya College of the Tsinghua University. They had in-depth discussions with Professor Mei Ciqi, Dean of Xinya College, and Professor Zhang Weite, Deputy Dean, to foster interaction between the two Colleges and explore future collaborations.

During the meeting, both sides introduced their histories, educational philosophies and current developments of their respective Colleges. Professor Chan elaborated on New Asia College’s educational philosophy and practices, emphasising its significant role in promoting students’ holistic development. Professor Mei, in turn, highlighted Xinya College’s General Education curriculum and initiatives to enhance student engagement in College life. Both parties also discussed the feasibility of fostering student exchange programmes and reached a preliminary consensus.

Following the meeting, Professor Zhang and student representatives led a tour of Xinya College’s campus and facilities, including modern teaching buildings, the library, activity rooms and communal spaces. During the tour, both sides exchanged ideas on campus development and facility management, exploring how optimising the campus environment can enhance students’ learning and living experiences.

This visit deepened mutual understanding and strengthened the bond between New Asia College and Xinya College, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration. Both parties expressed their commitment to continuing dialogue and cooperation to explore new models and directions for College education, aiming to nurture outstanding talents together.
