Academic Lecture
The College and the CUHK School of Life Sciences co-organised the 75th Anniversary Lecture cum the Ninth Yen Kwo-Yung Lectures in Life Sciences in this March. Professor Joseph Sung, Senior Vice President (Health and Life Sciences) and Dean of the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore was invited as the speaker to share with our students, staff and the general public the application of Artificial Intelligence in medicine and his views about the future development in the field of medicine.
College Activity
The College’s Committee on College Culture co-hosted a cultural talk and dinner with Chung Chi College in April, featuring Dr. Ng Sui-hing Sonia, renowned cultural scholar, writer, and distinguished history graduate of Chung Chi College’s class of 1975. Dr. Ng led participants to a culinary journey through ancient Chinese food culture, vividly bringing historical flavours to the modern table. Meanwhile, the “Story of Chinese Ink in the Mountain Town” Ink Art Exhibition organised by the College showcased individual and collaborative works of 20 New Asia students and staff. Reflections from three participants were included in this issue.
Column “Heterogeneity in a Single Theme”
The theme of this issue is “Distance” written by two alumni Ms. Wong Yuk-shan (18/Fine Arts) and Mr. Chan Pak-ka (07/Chinese Language and Literature). Yuk-shan used precise figures and layered language to portray the distance between two individuals, while Pak-ka laid bare the estrangement between him and his parents.
