About CUHK Youth Endeavor Foundation | The name “Youth Endeavor” (奮進青年)was inspired by the lyrics written by Founder Mr. Chien Mu for the College Anthem. The term山城 (meaning “mountain city”) in the Chinese name not only refers to the geographical landscape of CUHK, but also highlights the depth and aura of the CU spirit—perseverance in adversity, benevolence with humanity. The essence of奮進 (meaning “to thrive”) goes beyond simply enduring hardships; it enshrines the sentiment and tenacity shown by the Founders along the rocky path to their aspirations.青年(meaning “youth”), as stated by the Founders, are our hopes for tomorrow, as well as the prime movers in promoting peace and wellbeing of the human race.
The Foundation’s mission is to encourage students to embody the Founders’ ideals in their lives, and to advocate the spirits of New Asia and CUHK with an innocent heart. |
