YUNA Symposium 2025

Established in 1993, the New Asia College/Yale University Student Exchange Programme (YUNA Program) is an annual event designed to foster cross-cultural exchange between the two institutions. Students participate in a series of activities such as site visits, symposiums, meetings with officials, and cultural experiences to gain a deeper understanding of the social, cultural, and scientific issues in Hong Kong and the United States. Each year, eight New Asia College students pair up with eight Yale University students as pen-pals.

During the last Lunar New Year period, our New Asia students paid a 14-day visit to Yale University in New Haven. This March, we are excited to welcome the Yale group’s reciprocal visit to Hong Kong and New Asia College.

As part of the program, our New Asia College students have curated a symposium featuring four presentations from Yale students. This year’s theme, “Reimagining Cities: Hong Kong and New Haven,” explores urban development, social dynamics, and sustainability.

Four titles of the presentations are:

  • The Path Towards an Enclave: Reimagining Afghan Belonging in New Haven
  • Lonely Cities: Reimagining Public Space in an Era of Digital Socialization
  • Mapping Sidewalks, Reimagining Equity: A Multimodal Analysis of Accessibility in New Haven
  • Beyond Rezoning: Reimagining Industrial Infrastructure in NYC’s Changing Neighborhoods

The symposium will be held at 6:30 pm on 13 March 2025 (Thursday) at the Lee Shau Kee Architecture Building. For more information, please find the attached event poster.
