Abstract:

In recent years, global warming has intensified. The period from 2023 to 2025 has been the warmest three years since instrumental records began, with the global average temperature in 2024 exceeding pre‑industrial levels by 1.55 degrees. Climate change has been continuously bringing various extreme weather events worldwide — super typhoons, floods, heatwaves, and wildfires have already become the norm.

This lecture will introduce the latest developments and impacts of climate change, with particular attention to its effects on Hong Kong. It will also discuss how Hong Kong can respond.

All secondary school students attending the seminar will receive a “Certificate of Attendance,” issued by New Asia College, Chinese University of Hong Kong, on the day of the talks. Students are required to present the valid identification (e.g. student handbook or student ID) for verification after the talks.

Lecture will be conducted in Cantonese. Participants are welcome to attend in person/ online via Zoom.

All are welcome, free Admission.
