The “Ch’ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture” is organised to enhance academic and cultural exchanges. Invited speakers in the past years are all distinguished scholars in different fields of Chinese culture. Since 2013, the lecture series has been endowed by the “Mr. Chan Chi-sun Chinese Culture Fund”.
Celebrating the 37th anniversary of the lecture series, the College was honoured to have invited Professor Ge Zhaoguang, Distinguished Professor of the National Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies and Department of History, Fudan University as our speaker. Professor Ge delivered three public lectures under the main theme of “‘China in Asia’ and ‘China in the World’”, which explored Chinese history in different perspectives and aspects, to College students, staff and the general public between late February and early March.
The first lecture was jointly organised with the CUHK Department of Anthropology on 27 February 2026 at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, CUHK with Professor Sidney Cheung of the Department of Anthropology as the moderator. The second lecture was jointly organised with the CUHK Department of History on 4 March 2026 at Yasumoto International Academic Park, CUHK with Professor Cheung Sui-wai of the Department of History as the moderator. The third one was jointly organised with Hong Kong Public Libraries on 7 March 2026 at Hong Kong Central Library with Professor Kenneth Cheung of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature as the moderator. The three lectures attracted around 2,200 local and overseas audiences with various backgrounds to attend both in person and online.
