The Career Development Day of the College Mentorship Programme 2025/26 was successfully held on 10 January 2026. In addition to Programme mentees, all students from New Asia College were also invited to attend. Thanks to the enthusiastic support of the mentees and students, it was well-received by over 80 participants.

To better equip students for their future career development, this year’s Career Development Day featured three workshops, namely the Business Dining Etiquette Workshop, the Emotional Management and Psychological Resilience Workshop, and the AI CV Writing Workshop. Through these workshops, we aimed to help students start their careers more confidently, understand workplace social etiquette and communication skills more easily, and sustain good mental health.

In terms of the sharing sessions, we were honoured to have alumni from various industries to share their experiences. In response to recent societal changes, the topics covered a wide range of fields, including arts, data science and technology, finance and everyday legal matters. The speakers included alumni Ms. Ruby Kwan (98/Physical Education and Sports Science), Mr. Peter Chan (04/Information Engineering), Mr. Nelson Ngan (05/Economics) and Mr. Mac Chan (12/Law). They shared insights into various industries, job realities and pre-career preparations, including banking, career planning and ways to protect oneself through legal means. The students responded enthusiastically to these sharing sessions and actively engaged in interactions with the speakers.

This year, we continued to invite alumni from various sectors to conduct mock interviews for students, enabling them to gain valuable experiences and perform better in the future. We were honoured to engage alumni from different industries, including Mr. Hay Lee (80/Journalism and Communication) and Ms. Grace Lam (97/Government and Public Administration) from the business sector, Ms. Sheila Tang (88/Journalism and Communication) from the non-governmental sector, and Mr. Nick Yu (05/Physical Education and Sports Science) from the education sector. They generously shared their valuable insights and gave detailed feedback after the interviews. Students learnt a lot from the mock interviews which were very practical.

In the evening, a Lunar New Year Poon Choi Party was held at Yun Chi Hsien, bringing the mentors and mentees together to exchange greetings and celebrate the Lunar New Year. Before the Party, College Head Professor Sun-On Chan and Vice-Chairperson of the New Asia College Alumni Association Mr. Lai Chi-ho both delivered speeches to warmly welcome the mentors and mentees. They expressed gratitude for the staunch support from the mentors towards the Mentorship Programme and encouraged the mentees to learn from the mentors. Two mentees sang during the Party, adding colours to it, and the mentors and mentees engaged in lively conversations, exploring a range of topics. We hoped this essence of the New Asia Spirit would endure through generations.

The success of this event was made possible by the tremendous support from all parties involved. We sincerely thank all the speakers, mentors and mentees, as well as College students for their enthusiastic participation and support.
