Lunar New Year Party 2026

[May 2026 issue]

At the beginning of the Year of the Horse, the Lunar New Year Party co-organised by New Asia College and the New Asia College Alumni Association was held on 20 March at the Grand Ballroom of Hilton Garden Inn Hong Kong Mongkok. More than 160 alumni, friends of New Asia and students gathered together to celebrate the festive occasion. Amidst warm greetings and well wishes, the evening commenced with a series of exciting programmes.

In their remarks, Mr. Charles Leung, Chairperson of the College Board of Trustees, as well as College Head Professor Sun-On Chan reviewed the College’s efforts over the past year to promote students’ holistic development, and to strengthen support for their physical and mental well-being. Through psychological and financial assistance, faculty-student engagement and mental health programmes, the College has fostered a caring campus. They also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to friends and alumni for their steadfast support and generous donations. Mr. Kenny Mo, President of the Alumni Association and a member of the College Board of Trustees, likewise recapped the Association’s work in the past year and thanked members of the Executive Committee for their contributions in organising a wide range of alumni activities. Following the toast, the dinner formally commenced.

This year, the College and the Alumni Association invited the New Asia Chorus to sing. The Chorus presented two pieces in contrasting styles — “Let Beauty Awake” and “Love Warms the Heart” — which further enlivened the celebratory atmosphere. In addition, the NA73 Band, highly acclaimed at the College’s 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner, performed several classic hits. Their programme added a joyful flourish to the evening, leaving melodies that lingered long after the performance.

In addition to the stage performances, guests also participated enthusiastically in the riddle-guessing game before the banquet started, with many correctly identifying the answers when they were revealed. This was followed by a lucky draw, and the fortunate winners left with an abundant array of prizes. The prizes were exceptionally generous, and the College and the Alumni Association would like to extend their sincere thanks to the sponsors for their generosity. During the banquet, the College also held a simple yet dignified cheque presentation ceremony for several donors in attendance.

The event concluded successfully, thanks to the close collaboration of the Alumni Association, College colleagues and students, to whom the College hereby expresses its deep appreciation. The College also wishes to thank alumni Mr. Joe Leung and Ms. Kuby Cheung, as well as Ms. Siobhan Chung and Mr. Daniel Zheng, participants of the New Asia Young Scholars Scheme, for serving as masters of ceremonies and energising the audience. This Lunar New Year Party marked the College’s welcoming of good fortune in the Year of the Horse, and the College looks forward to continuing its mission in the year ahead — nurturing talent and contributing to the betterment of society through education.
