Summer Subsistence and Travel Loan Scheme 2017/18
The aim of the Scheme is to provide interest-free loan to needy full-time local undergraduate students who will participate in academic exchange programmes abroad in summer of current academic year / term time of next academic year or to those who will join other extra-curricular activities or academic trainings / programmes in summer.
Applicants must be full-time local undergraduate students (exclusively for UGC-funded or publicly-funded programmes and student places).
・Level of Assistance
The level of assistance would depend on the financial need of applicants and duration of the exchange programmes / learning activities.
・Repayment of Loan
(i) Loans granted must be repaid in 8 instalments within 2 years upon graduation from the University.
(ii) The full amount of loans granted must be repaid immediately if:
a. the recipients withdraw from study at the University;
b. the travel is cancelled;
c. the amended travel plan is rejected.
(i) Should there be any amendments to the activity after submission of application, the recipient must obtain consent in advance by writing to the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid for re-consideration.
(ii) Upon completion of the overseas programmes or activities, the recipients must submit the followings to our Office: a. at least three photographs taken in the academic activities abroad; and b. a travel report in 500 to 600 words, either in English or Chinese, for onward transmission to the donor and record.
(iii) Successful applicants are required to provide contact details and signatures of both an eligible guarantor and a witness when completing the loan documents.
(i) Applicants should submit their online application in CUSIS (Website: http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/cusis; MyCUHK > CUSIS and MyStudy > Financial Aid Online Appl Form > Public Application > click the magnifying glass to select “Summer Subsistence Travel Loan”) during the application period from 1 February to 16 March 2018.
(ii) Applicants should read the “Guidelines” for specific requirements for each Section of the online application form.
(iii) Applicants can apply for loan for a maximum of two activities / exchange programmes.
(iv) If the application results of students’ overseas trips are not yet confirmed before the submission deadline, students are still required to submit the application forms on or before the deadline.
(v) Applicants are required to print and submit Section 12 “Submission of Supporting Documents” of the online application form together with the supporting documents to the Scholarships and Financial Aid Section, Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (Room 1206, 12/F, Yasumoto International Academic Park) during the period from 12 to 16 March 2018.

Applicants will be informed of the results by the end of May via CUHK @link email.
